Narrative:
On taxiing to runway 8R; as cleared by pueblo ground control; I became disoriented by the runway signage and taxied beyond the hold line on runway 8. Ground control caught the mistake immediately; told me to do a 180 and contact tower. My fault for losing situational awareness! Pueblo is unusual in that the runway 8R/26L is located on the north portion of the main ramp. The standard signage for this configuration; I feel; is less than adequate. The main problem I had was that the hold line paint markings are badly faded (to the point that I taxied right past them). Additionally I would recommend that especially this hold line be highlighted with black underlay paint (or some other effective method) to increase their visibility. Even on takeoff roll I had a problem seeing the center line markings until well into the takeoff roll.
