Narrative:
Immediately after takeoff; I smelled smoke; heard the smoke detectors go off in the cabin and heard flight attendant chimes. Picking up the interphone; I heard conversation about smoke in the cabin. Declared an emergency and requested vectors for a return to land. WX was at minimums. Off to on was 11 mins. On final; flight attendants reported smoke dissipating and source never determined. No evacuate/evacuation. Normal taxi in and deplaned at the gate.
