Narrative:
We changed our runway in the FMC from 25L to 24R. We thought we had closed all discontinuities but had not. When I made the correction; I forgot to re-select LNAV. We were told by ATC we were left of course; and to turn right to intercept the localizer. The civet arrival is very busy. After turning to a heading of 260 degrees after civet (in the box) selecting VOR/localizer would have prevented this mistake. We could have followed the progress on the legs page and on the map; but would have been protected from and route discontinuities.
