Narrative:
Unable rvsm because neither autoplt would engage at 34000 ft. I do not believe any errors were committed. I am reporting this because of a requirement to do so. Upon reaching 34000 ft (our cruise altitude) the first officer was unable to engage either autoplt. We advised ATC and descended to 29000 ft. We continued to our destination uneventfully.
