Narrative:
En route from santa cruz; bolivia; to ZZZ; we transited amazonica airspace (formerly manaus); an en route sector in brazilian airspace. While in amazonica airspace; the brazilian controllers issued us a 'clearance limit' of iroti intersection. Iroti intersection happens to lie well within the borders of the next neighboring country: colombia. Amazonica gave us nothing other than the clearance limit itself -- no efc; no instructions in the event of lost comm; no idea of what to expect -- nothing other than the limit itself. They were apparently issuing clearance limits like this to all traffic over the amazon basin. After we reached the fir and were handed off to colombian ATC; we asked bogota to clear us to destination. They did so.

Title: A B757-200 PILOT REPORTS THAT A BRAZILIAN CONTROLLER ISSUED A CLEARANCE LIMIT JUST INSIDE COLOMBIAN AIRSPACE WITH IMPROPER CLEARANCE INSTRUCTIONS; AND THAT THE PRACTICE IS WIDESPREAD.
Narrative: ENRTE FROM SANTA CRUZ; BOLIVIA; TO ZZZ; WE TRANSITED AMAZONICA AIRSPACE (FORMERLY MANAUS); AN ENRTE SECTOR IN BRAZILIAN AIRSPACE. WHILE IN AMAZONICA AIRSPACE; THE BRAZILIAN CTLRS ISSUED US A 'CLRNC LIMIT' OF IROTI INTXN. IROTI INTXN HAPPENS TO LIE WELL WITHIN THE BORDERS OF THE NEXT NEIGHBORING COUNTRY: COLOMBIA. AMAZONICA GAVE US NOTHING OTHER THAN THE CLRNC LIMIT ITSELF -- NO EFC; NO INSTRUCTIONS IN THE EVENT OF LOST COMM; NO IDEA OF WHAT TO EXPECT -- NOTHING OTHER THAN THE LIMIT ITSELF. THEY WERE APPARENTLY ISSUING CLRNC LIMITS LIKE THIS TO ALL TFC OVER THE AMAZON BASIN. AFTER WE REACHED THE FIR AND WERE HANDED OFF TO COLOMBIAN ATC; WE ASKED BOGOTA TO CLEAR US TO DESTINATION. THEY DID SO.
