Narrative:

The causes of the problem are a result of improper scanning techniques; my reasoning being that I was in his 12 O'clock position; on a relatively clear day; and he was at my 10 O'clock position. I had to take evasive action; the beginning of a chandelle; to avoid being hit. To prevent recurrence educate more glass cockpit pilots on the basics of scanning.
