Narrative:
Captain flying. Cleared for visual approach. Autoplt on until 800 ft AGL. Autothrottle on through touchdown; disconnected on ground. Wind reported at 1000 ft AGL 020 degrees at 8 KTS gusting 17 KTS. First officer asked about changing target speed from reference +5 KTS to reference +5 KTS plus gust. Captain said autothrottle on not necessary. In flare; autothrottle spooled up and landed very firm. No debrief of approach or landing occurred. Checklists completed. Captain and relief pilot went downstairs and left aircraft. First officer informed as going downstairs that a woman was injured during landing. Mid-cabin projector cover had dislodged during landing and hit woman in the head. First officer and flight attendants attended to woman and called for medical assistance. Woman conscious but in mild shock. First officer called safety coordinator for flight office assistance and wrote up damaged cover in ACARS. Medical assistance rendered and woman helped off of aircraft. Supplemental information from acn 747045: the subsequent landing was a firm landing; yet not to the point that I felt there could be any damage. After taxi to the gate and shutdown I shook the hands of the 2 flying pilots; said bye to the upper deck flight attendants and left for layover. At the hotel I received a call and was informed that a passenger was injured on the landing.
