Narrative:
Electrical smell -- more like an over watt power port. However; the movie video machine shut down; and immediate electrical burning over the window exits of the B757. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated that the video system automatic shutdown 3 times. Reporter restarted the system until an electrical burning smell developed. Following the burning smell the flight crew diverted to nearby airport where the aircraft spent the night in maintenance. Initially the reporter suspected a power port overheat because those components have been known to malfunction. However; after the video machine failed and the smell developed; she believed the entertainment system was at fault. She never found out for sure what the cause was.

Narrative: ELECTRICAL SMELL -- MORE LIKE AN OVER WATT PWR PORT. HOWEVER; THE MOVIE VIDEO MACHINE SHUT DOWN; AND IMMEDIATE ELECTRICAL BURNING OVER THE WINDOW EXITS OF THE B757. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: REPORTER STATED THAT THE VIDEO SYSTEM AUTO SHUTDOWN 3 TIMES. REPORTER RESTARTED THE SYSTEM UNTIL AN ELECTRICAL BURNING SMELL DEVELOPED. FOLLOWING THE BURNING SMELL THE FLT CREW DIVERTED TO NEARBY ARPT WHERE THE ACFT SPENT THE NIGHT IN MAINTENANCE.
