Narrative:
Tpa airport recently concluded taxiway construction in late june. Specifically; taxiway D was extended north of runway 27. The latest publication cycle products (including; but not limited to the airfield/facility directory and approach plates which contain the tpa airport diagram) do not reflect the new taxiway extension -- they still show taxiway delta as existing only south of runway 9/27. This is a most dangerous omission. If; during a low visibility operation; a disoriented pilot finds himself on taxiway D and he confers an airport diagram; he will be under the incorrect assumption that he is south of runway 27; when he actually might not be. (Bear in mind that tpa was bypassed for receiving asde X. We have no asde whatsoever.) this could definitely lead to a runway incursion/incident/accident. Given the recent upswing in runway incidents as of late; this is a serious situation.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: TPA CTLR EXPRESSED CONCERN THAT EXISTING ARPT CHARTS FAIL TO ACCURATELY REFLECT A NEW TXWY EXTENSION THAT COULD CAUSE POTENTIAL INCIDENTS.
Narrative: TPA ARPT RECENTLY CONCLUDED TXWY CONSTRUCTION IN LATE JUNE. SPECIFICALLY; TXWY D WAS EXTENDED N OF RWY 27. THE LATEST PUB CYCLE PRODUCTS (INCLUDING; BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE AIRFIELD/FACILITY DIRECTORY AND APCH PLATES WHICH CONTAIN THE TPA ARPT DIAGRAM) DO NOT REFLECT THE NEW TXWY EXTENSION -- THEY STILL SHOW TXWY DELTA AS EXISTING ONLY S OF RWY 9/27. THIS IS A MOST DANGEROUS OMISSION. IF; DURING A LOW VISIBILITY OP; A DISORIENTED PLT FINDS HIMSELF ON TXWY D AND HE CONFERS AN ARPT DIAGRAM; HE WILL BE UNDER THE INCORRECT ASSUMPTION THAT HE IS S OF RWY 27; WHEN HE ACTUALLY MIGHT NOT BE. (BEAR IN MIND THAT TPA WAS BYPASSED FOR RECEIVING ASDE X. WE HAVE NO ASDE WHATSOEVER.) THIS COULD DEFINITELY LEAD TO A RWY INCURSION/INCIDENT/ACCIDENT. GIVEN THE RECENT UPSWING IN RWY INCIDENTS AS OF LATE; THIS IS A SERIOUS SITUATION.
