Narrative:

Selected slats 15. Slats did not move. Declared emergency; explained problem and said we need to go some place to hold and work on the problem. Not totally understood by ATC. Repeated mayday three times and told approach we need to go someplace to hold. We were cleared to VOR to hold. Held at VOR at 13000 ft. Heading to the hold; I called for the no slat procedure. Cycled handle. No help. Cycled handle again while clicking heels together saying there's no place like home. Still no help. Determined we had enough runway to land. Touched down in touchdown zone at 168 KTS ground speed. TAS was a tad higher. Requested medium automatic brake. About 120 KTS requested low brakes then took over manually. Only one brake temperature went over 300 and went back under 300 within 1 minute. Crash fire rescue equipment followed us to the gate.
