Narrative:
On the teb 5 departure from runway 24 it states; 'climb to 1500 ft then right turn to heading of 280 degrees. Maintain 1500 ft until crossing passing 4.5 DME then climb and maintain 2000 ft.' I misread the departure description and passed through 1500 ft and stopped at 2000 ft on a heading of 280 degrees prior to passing 4.5 DME.callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated that he was single pilot in the aircraft on the day of this event but that the technology is advanced enough that it is an easy aircraft to fly. The mistake he made that day was simply a failure of 'due diligence' on his part.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AN EA50 (ECLIPSE) PLT CLBED IMMEDIATELY TO 2000 FT ON THE TEB 5 DEP WITH NO STOP AT 1500 FT AS REQUIRED.
Narrative: ON THE TEB 5 DEP FROM RWY 24 IT STATES; 'CLIMB TO 1500 FT THEN R TURN TO HDG OF 280 DEGS. MAINTAIN 1500 FT UNTIL CROSSING PASSING 4.5 DME THEN CLIMB AND MAINTAIN 2000 FT.' I MISREAD THE DEP DESCRIPTION AND PASSED THROUGH 1500 FT AND STOPPED AT 2000 FT ON A HDG OF 280 DEGS PRIOR TO PASSING 4.5 DME.CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATED THAT HE WAS SINGLE PLT IN THE ACFT ON THE DAY OF THIS EVENT BUT THAT THE TECHNOLOGY IS ADVANCED ENOUGH THAT IT IS AN EASY ACFT TO FLY. THE MISTAKE HE MADE THAT DAY WAS SIMPLY A FAILURE OF 'DUE DILIGENCE' ON HIS PART.
