Narrative:
I was advised by the tower controller to report on a left downwind for runway 32. I proceeded to an entry approach point from which I could enter the downwind per clearance; however; after I reported downwind; I was informed by the controller that he had indeed instructed me to make a right downwind entry. I notified the controller that he had indeed clearly given me clearance to a left downwind. I verified this information with 2 pilots aboard my facility who heard exactly what I heard. Immediately thereafter; the controller 'lost it.' sarcasm; criticism and generally insulting verbiage poured from this controller against virtually all aircraft in and around the pattern. Normal tower decorum was replaced with hostile attitudes; which did not belong in this situation. I feel that anyone listening to the tapes from this incident might be surprised at the lack of professionalism emanating from the tower by that particular controller. I thank you for your time to explore this situation; which might be termed a potential hazard to safe operation at a twred airport.

Title: PLT LNDG FRG DISPUTED CTLR'S ASSERTIONS REF PATTERN ENTRY CLRNC; CTLR'S PROFESSIONALISM QUESTIONED REF RADIO COMMENTS/DECORUM.
Narrative: I WAS ADVISED BY THE TWR CTLR TO RPT ON A L DOWNWIND FOR RWY 32. I PROCEEDED TO AN ENTRY APCH POINT FROM WHICH I COULD ENTER THE DOWNWIND PER CLRNC; HOWEVER; AFTER I RPTED DOWNWIND; I WAS INFORMED BY THE CTLR THAT HE HAD INDEED INSTRUCTED ME TO MAKE A R DOWNWIND ENTRY. I NOTIFIED THE CTLR THAT HE HAD INDEED CLRLY GIVEN ME CLRNC TO A L DOWNWIND. I VERIFIED THIS INFO WITH 2 PLTS ABOARD MY FACILITY WHO HEARD EXACTLY WHAT I HEARD. IMMEDIATELY THEREAFTER; THE CTLR 'LOST IT.' SARCASM; CRITICISM AND GENERALLY INSULTING VERBIAGE POURED FROM THIS CTLR AGAINST VIRTUALLY ALL ACFT IN AND AROUND THE PATTERN. NORMAL TWR DECORUM WAS REPLACED WITH HOSTILE ATTITUDES; WHICH DID NOT BELONG IN THIS SIT. I FEEL THAT ANYONE LISTENING TO THE TAPES FROM THIS INCIDENT MIGHT BE SURPRISED AT THE LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM EMANATING FROM THE TWR BY THAT PARTICULAR CTLR. I THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME TO EXPLORE THIS SIT; WHICH MIGHT BE TERMED A POTENTIAL HAZARD TO SAFE OP AT A TWRED ARPT.
