Narrative:
On landing at ZZZ I felt a shudder and heard a slight pop from the right engine of our seminole. I checked the engine instruments as my student brought the aircraft to a stop. The shuddering had stopped and there were no indications of anything being amiss; so I told my student to begin the takeoff roll. During takeoff roll; I noticed an abnormally slow acceleration as well as an abnormal amount of left rudder being applied to maintain centerline. I checked the engine gauges again and saw nothing amiss. However; based on the lack of acceleration and the tendency to turn to the right; I elected to abort the takeoff. I instructed my student to abort and closed the throttles myself. My student applied full braking. As he did so; I said; 'off the brakes; off the brakes!' to which he said; 'I am!' I visually checked and noticed his feet were not on the brake pedals; only on the rudders. The left main brake was still fully engaged and the tire was skidding. I told my student 'I have the flight controls' and maintained directional control using the nosewheel steering as well as the right main brake; though the left was still locked. At approximately 35 KTS (estimated); the left main tire blew. I maintained directional control and brought the aircraft to a stop; immediately shutting down both engines. We called tower and informed them of the situation. We exited the aircraft to inspect for damage and I noticed smoke from the left main; at which point I asked for the fire extinguisher. I inspected the left main and noticed it was on fire; at which point I discharged the fire extinguisher onto the left main tire; extinguishing the flames. Discrepancies have been filed for the engine problem; the brake problem; the tire blow; and the fire extinguisher being discharged.

Title: LOCKED BRAKE ON PA44 DURING LNDG ROLL RESULTS IN BLOWN TIRE; EVACUATION AND BRIEF BRAKE/TIRE FIRE EXTINGUISHED BY THE FLT CREW.
Narrative: ON LNDG AT ZZZ I FELT A SHUDDER AND HEARD A SLIGHT POP FROM THE R ENG OF OUR SEMINOLE. I CHKED THE ENG INSTS AS MY STUDENT BROUGHT THE ACFT TO A STOP. THE SHUDDERING HAD STOPPED AND THERE WERE NO INDICATIONS OF ANYTHING BEING AMISS; SO I TOLD MY STUDENT TO BEGIN THE TKOF ROLL. I INSPECTED THE L MAIN AND NOTICED IT WAS ON FIRE; AT WHICH POINT I DISCHARGED THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER ONTO THE L MAIN TIRE; EXTINGUISHING THE FLAMES. DISCREPANCIES HAVE BEEN FILED FOR THE ENG PROB; THE BRAKE PROB; THE TIRE BLOW; AND THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER BEING DISCHARGED.
