Narrative:
I came onto shift and received a turnover from mr X on previous shift. He had just checked the part and serial numbers on aircraft X for the right side ice protection anticipator and thermostat. (Anticipator serial number XXXX and thermostat serial number YYYY.) I returned the logbook to the flight crew and was then was asked to go back out to verify the left side anticipator and serial number part and serial numbers. I discovered that there was a thermostat installed in the location of the anticipator. There were 2 thermostats installed on the left side instead of 1 thermostat and 1 anticipator. These parts look almost identical. I removed thermostat part number AAAA serial number BBBB and installed an anticipator.
