Narrative:
Flight from ZZZ at 5000 ft had a bird strike with a goose. All engine parameters were normal but wanted to return to ZZZ just in case there was damage that I could not detect or feel. I saw the bird and felt it so I knew we hit one and looked at the engine instruments right away. No change in engine parameters so I felt comfortable returning to ZZZ without declaring an emergency. Landed normal and taxi to gate normal. Shut down and called maintenance and did a walkaround to inspect for damage to aircraft. Maintenance was already on the scene and already found bird parts in the engine and nose gear doors. It appeared to me that the engine did what it was supposed to do and separated some parts and ingested others with no damage. We changed airplanes and continued on our merry way.
