Narrative:
On departure (runway 25R) flying the cowby 2 SID; after passing the rbell intersection; the FMS directed a turn (left) to hitme intersection. Shortly after making the turn I noticed that the 2 intermediate waypoints were no longer there. About that time departure control queried as to where we were going. I asked for a heading and we were subsequently vectored to a downline fix and we continued on with no further complications. As we discussed the event; we both preflted the route and both remember all the fixes being loaded into the route (as they had crossing restrs) and the fixes that were missing on departure were in the route during preflight. Neither pilot modified the route (the clearance was 'as filed'). It is still unknown why the waypoints (roppr and ceasr) omitted on the departure routing.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: B737-800 FLT CREW REPORTS TRACK DEV ON THE COWBY 2 RNAV DEPARTURE OUT OF LAS. WAYPOINTS ROPPR AND CEASR ARE ELIMINATED AND ACFT ATTEMPTS TO FLY DIRECT HITME AFTER RBELL.
Narrative: ON DEP (RWY 25R) FLYING THE COWBY 2 SID; AFTER PASSING THE RBELL INTXN; THE FMS DIRECTED A TURN (L) TO HITME INTXN. SHORTLY AFTER MAKING THE TURN I NOTICED THAT THE 2 INTERMEDIATE WAYPOINTS WERE NO LONGER THERE. ABOUT THAT TIME DEP CTL QUERIED AS TO WHERE WE WERE GOING. I ASKED FOR A HDG AND WE WERE SUBSEQUENTLY VECTORED TO A DOWNLINE FIX AND WE CONTINUED ON WITH NO FURTHER COMPLICATIONS. AS WE DISCUSSED THE EVENT; WE BOTH PREFLTED THE RTE AND BOTH REMEMBER ALL THE FIXES BEING LOADED INTO THE RTE (AS THEY HAD XING RESTRS) AND THE FIXES THAT WERE MISSING ON DEP WERE IN THE RTE DURING PREFLT. NEITHER PLT MODIFIED THE RTE (THE CLRNC WAS 'AS FILED'). IT IS STILL UNKNOWN WHY THE WAYPOINTS (ROPPR AND CEASR) OMITTED ON THE DEP ROUTING.
