Narrative:
During our approach to the ZZZ airport; when the gear was selected down; an amber left outboard brakes fail cas illuminated. We initiated a go around to run the appropriate checklist. The problem persisted after the checklist was completed. Taking into account that the runway at ZZZ is 5200 ft and we had a brake problem; the decision was made to divert to ZZZ1 which was 10 mi away and had a 12000 ft runway. After declaring an emergency; an uneventful landing was made.
