Narrative:
During descent; unscheduled stabilizer trim light annunciated followed by autoplt disconnect. Followed QRH and flight manual procedures. Using manual control (hand flying) aircraft control forces were stiffer than normal. Flew rest of the approach manually and had to trim using center pedestal switches. The first officer also flew the aircraft to verify my impressions of the control forces required. Approach and landing were otherwise uneventful. Entered write-up in maintenance log and discussed aircraft status with maintenance.
