Narrative:
Cleared for visual for runway xxr. I somehow mistook the taxiway on left; (north side) for the runway. I have landed here before; perhaps 4 to 6 times over the previous 3 yrs. The actual runway (xxr) is shorter and much narrower than the taxiway; and I did not realize what I had done until on the ground and turning off. Ground control advised me to cross runway xxr; and proceed to the FBO. I realized afterward that the VASI was on the right side as I was landing. I did not receive a request to call the tower; or any other indication that I had landed on the taxiway; however; it would have been pretty obvious to the tower. I have never done anything like this before; and my only thoughts on how this happened were a slight level of anxiety that I was late for an appointment; as well as a sight distraction of thinking of a fairly important meeting coming up the next day. I think that the best corrective action will be the memory and embarrassment of having done such a boneheaded thing.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: SR22 PLT LANDS ON PARALLEL TXWY VICE RWY.
Narrative: CLRED FOR VISUAL FOR RWY XXR. I SOMEHOW MISTOOK THE TXWY ON L; (N SIDE) FOR THE RWY. I HAVE LANDED HERE BEFORE; PERHAPS 4 TO 6 TIMES OVER THE PREVIOUS 3 YRS. THE ACTUAL RWY (XXR) IS SHORTER AND MUCH NARROWER THAN THE TXWY; AND I DID NOT REALIZE WHAT I HAD DONE UNTIL ON THE GND AND TURNING OFF. GND CTL ADVISED ME TO CROSS RWY XXR; AND PROCEED TO THE FBO. I REALIZED AFTERWARD THAT THE VASI WAS ON THE R SIDE AS I WAS LNDG. I DID NOT RECEIVE A REQUEST TO CALL THE TWR; OR ANY OTHER INDICATION THAT I HAD LANDED ON THE TXWY; HOWEVER; IT WOULD HAVE BEEN PRETTY OBVIOUS TO THE TWR. I HAVE NEVER DONE ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE; AND MY ONLY THOUGHTS ON HOW THIS HAPPENED WERE A SLIGHT LEVEL OF ANXIETY THAT I WAS LATE FOR AN APPOINTMENT; AS WELL AS A SIGHT DISTR OF THINKING OF A FAIRLY IMPORTANT MEETING COMING UP THE NEXT DAY. I THINK THAT THE BEST CORRECTIVE ACTION WILL BE THE MEMORY AND EMBARRASSMENT OF HAVING DONE SUCH A BONEHEADED THING.
