Narrative:
While being cleared for takeoff on runway 24R and not being familiar with the runway, I moved the airplane onto the taxiway that parallels the runway. I had to make a 180 and taxi back onto the runway. This made no problems with any approaching traffic or on the ground. An airplane behind me stopped, while he knew the area of the airport. Correction or better ground markings at airports would be the solution for this.

Title: ATX SMT LINED UP ON THE TAXIWAY PARALLEL TO THE RWY FOR TKOF. PLT DETECTED THE ERROR AND DID A 180 DEG TURN BACK TO THE RWY.
Narrative: WHILE BEING CLRED FOR TKOF ON RWY 24R AND NOT BEING FAMILIAR WITH THE RWY, I MOVED THE AIRPLANE ONTO THE TAXIWAY THAT PARALLELS THE RWY. I HAD TO MAKE A 180 AND TAXI BACK ONTO THE RWY. THIS MADE NO PROBLEMS WITH ANY APCHING TFC OR ON THE GND. AN AIRPLANE BEHIND ME STOPPED, WHILE HE KNEW THE AREA OF THE ARPT. CORRECTION OR BETTER GND MARKINGS AT ARPTS WOULD BE THE SOLUTION FOR THIS.
