Narrative:
I was proceeding straight in for runway 11 at tia, with tucson approach control for entry into the arsa. Approach vectored me to the right around 2 small transport twins on ILS final for runway 11L and cleared me to runway 11R. I was looking directly into the sun and saw 'runway 11R' clearly. This actually turned out to be taxiway C. I did not realize the error until committed to touchdown. The landing and rollout were without incident or undue braking. I called the tower to point out the mistake and later talked with tower personnel by telephone. Tower controllers apparently had not detected the error either. Contributing factors: 1) while being vectored around the slower traffic ahead of me on final, I did not see the second one until I was close in. I had edged further to the right because of this. 2) the surface of taxiway C is visually more dramatic and contrasts with the surrounding terrain more than runway 11R does. Looking directly into the morning sun further contributed to this problem. Recommendation: for aircraft landing on runway 11R directly into the sun, tower might offer a caution. VASI on 11R would be helpful.

Title: ATX SMT LANDED ON A TXWY AT TUS THAT IS WELL REMOVED FROM THE PARALLEL RWY.
Narrative: I WAS PROCEEDING STRAIGHT IN FOR RWY 11 AT TIA, WITH TUCSON APCH CTL FOR ENTRY INTO THE ARSA. APCH VECTORED ME TO THE RIGHT AROUND 2 SMT TWINS ON ILS FINAL FOR RWY 11L AND CLRED ME TO RWY 11R. I WAS LOOKING DIRECTLY INTO THE SUN AND SAW 'RWY 11R' CLEARLY. THIS ACTUALLY TURNED OUT TO BE TXWY C. I DID NOT REALIZE THE ERROR UNTIL COMMITTED TO TOUCHDOWN. THE LNDG AND ROLLOUT WERE WITHOUT INCIDENT OR UNDUE BRAKING. I CALLED THE TWR TO POINT OUT THE MISTAKE AND LATER TALKED WITH TWR PERSONNEL BY TELEPHONE. TWR CTLRS APPARENTLY HAD NOT DETECTED THE ERROR EITHER. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: 1) WHILE BEING VECTORED AROUND THE SLOWER TFC AHEAD OF ME ON FINAL, I DID NOT SEE THE SECOND ONE UNTIL I WAS CLOSE IN. I HAD EDGED FURTHER TO THE RIGHT BECAUSE OF THIS. 2) THE SURFACE OF TXWY C IS VISUALLY MORE DRAMATIC AND CONTRASTS WITH THE SURROUNDING TERRAIN MORE THAN RWY 11R DOES. LOOKING DIRECTLY INTO THE MORNING SUN FURTHER CONTRIBUTED TO THIS PROBLEM. RECOMMENDATION: FOR ACFT LNDG ON RWY 11R DIRECTLY INTO THE SUN, TWR MIGHT OFFER A CAUTION. VASI ON 11R WOULD BE HELPFUL.
