Narrative:
I wish to voice my concern with the recent and expanding practice of including the following verbiage on our company detailed pages concerning airports with closed towers late at night. Suggested review: aim -- FSS paragraph 4-1-3; non-tower airports paragraph 4-1-9; pilot controled lighting paragraph 2-1-7; canceling IFR flight plans paragraph 5-1-4; clearance void times paragraph 5-2-4. Aim's are not currently issued; required; or available to pilots during line flying. Basically; this company detailed page directive requires pilots to consult an unavailable document during a duty period when they are unable to do so. In our case; we ended up doing a go around at XA30 in the morning because we were unable to access pilot controled lighting in a timely manner for our approach. The current directive is impossible to comply with. Flight operations needs to publish the necessary information in the fom for in-flight reference; or return to issuing the ATC tab of the chart pubs. Additionally; flight operations should review their standing policy of how they make operational flight information available to crews in the aircraft. Currently; only certain read before fly items are republished in the WX package. For the rest; they assume that all crews will remember and recall the details -- sometimes months after the initial publication. Stop writing directives like lawyers and start writing like pilots trying to help other pilots.

Title: AN ACR PILOT NOTES THAT HIS ACR QUOTES THE AIRMAN'S INFORMATION MANUAL ABOUT NON TOWERED NIGHT LNDGS BUT DOES NOT INCLUDE APPLICABLE INSTRUCTIONS.
Narrative: I WISH TO VOICE MY CONCERN WITH THE RECENT AND EXPANDING PRACTICE OF INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING VERBIAGE ON OUR COMPANY DETAILED PAGES CONCERNING ARPTS WITH CLOSED TWRS LATE AT NIGHT. SUGGESTED REVIEW: AIM -- FSS PARAGRAPH 4-1-3; NON-TWR ARPTS PARAGRAPH 4-1-9; PLT CTLED LIGHTING PARAGRAPH 2-1-7; CANCELING IFR FLT PLANS PARAGRAPH 5-1-4; CLRNC VOID TIMES PARAGRAPH 5-2-4. AIM'S ARE NOT CURRENTLY ISSUED; REQUIRED; OR AVAILABLE TO PLTS DURING LINE FLYING. BASICALLY; THIS COMPANY DETAILED PAGE DIRECTIVE REQUIRES PLTS TO CONSULT AN UNAVAILABLE DOCUMENT DURING A DUTY PERIOD WHEN THEY ARE UNABLE TO DO SO. IN OUR CASE; WE ENDED UP DOING A GAR AT XA30 IN THE MORNING BECAUSE WE WERE UNABLE TO ACCESS PLT CTLED LIGHTING IN A TIMELY MANNER FOR OUR APCH. THE CURRENT DIRECTIVE IS IMPOSSIBLE TO COMPLY WITH. FLT OPS NEEDS TO PUBLISH THE NECESSARY INFO IN THE FOM FOR INFLT REF; OR RETURN TO ISSUING THE ATC TAB OF THE CHART PUBS. ADDITIONALLY; FLT OPS SHOULD REVIEW THEIR STANDING POLICY OF HOW THEY MAKE OPERATIONAL FLT INFO AVAILABLE TO CREWS IN THE ACFT. CURRENTLY; ONLY CERTAIN READ BEFORE FLY ITEMS ARE REPUBLISHED IN THE WX PACKAGE. FOR THE REST; THEY ASSUME THAT ALL CREWS WILL REMEMBER AND RECALL THE DETAILS -- SOMETIMES MONTHS AFTER THE INITIAL PUB. STOP WRITING DIRECTIVES LIKE LAWYERS AND START WRITING LIKE PLTS TRYING TO HELP OTHER PLTS.
