Narrative:

On approach when going from flaps 15 degrees to 30 degrees; conditions were very gusty with windshear advisories in effect. Upon reaching flaps 30 degrees; a large gust caught us and airspeed climbed to 168 KTS for approximately 3 seconds. The logbook entry was not completed until our next leg out of ZZZ. I was unclr that this was a drop-dead inspection requirement. We need to make sure all pilots know this is a drop-dead inspection.
