Narrative:

While on departure from teb; I inadvertently overshot my altitude by 400 ft (2000 ft MSL). I corrected immediately and no conflict occurred with another aircraft. A passenger distracted me during the climb out and this caused me to overshoot my altitude. I discussed the situation with the passenger and informed them of the necessity of keeping silent during critical phases of flight. In the future; I will brief all passenger of this requirement to avoid distracting the pilot during critical phases of flight.
