Narrative:

We had accepted the aircraft in ZZZ after carefully reviewing the flight papers and I had signed for the aircraft. In ZZZ1 flight was canceled for an engine overtemp that had occurred sometime within the proceeding 24 hours. The exceedance had been overlooked and maintenance had not addressed. Maintenance did not discover until we were landing in ZZZ1 was informed that the exceedance had been 821 degrees for 13 seconds. I had accepted and flown the aircraft with the overtemp and no maintenance inspection. The flight to ZZZ1 was uneventful.
