Narrative:
On climb; I noticed that the left engine oil pressure was decreasing. The oil pressure was in the yellow band and the 'low oil pressure' light was flickering. The QRH procedure was followed and the engine was shut down. As the oil pressure had now decreased into the red and the warning light had come on steady; lowest oil pressure was 10-11 psi. Oil quantity had decreased to 12 quarts. We returned to departure for an overweight landing.
