Narrative:
On climb out just after getting the aircraft cleaned up; I noticed the #2 egt digital display was blank; the analog needle pointer full maximum; and the overtemp red light was illuminated. I brought my first officer's attention to the gauge and he reduced the thrust all the way to idle with no change in egt indication. There were no unusual vibrations or any other abnormalities. As I was going through the QRH; the egt gauge started to give erratic indications. Then it would show normal indications. I felt it was an indication problem and did not shut the engine down because at this point; everything was indicating normal. I called dispatch and they got maintenance control on the line and I told them what it was doing and they said it was an indicator problem and to continue on to ZZZ. My first officer and I agreed and continued to ZZZ. There were no further problems and the flight was uneventful.
