Narrative:
There is an easy listening radio station interfering with 121.5 guard frequency. It is so strong that it makes any transmission on guard unreadable and if you monitor guard in accordance with far rules; then you have a hard time hearing ATC frequency. It impacts safety and should any single engine airplane ditch off the coast or need assistance; we would not hear it. It would also interfere with traffic call outs from center ATC frequency if you monitor both at equal volume levels. The ATC controller informed us that it had been looked into; but the station is supposedly in compliance with FCC regulations. Perhaps the FAA can work with the FCC to ensure safety of flight on this important frequency.
