Narrative:
After takeoff from yip; when handed over to dtw departure; we were told to fly to 'maars' intersection. 'Marrs' was inadvertently entered in the GPS in our aircraft. We turned to marrs instead of maars. We turned about 120 degrees off the proper course. ATC asked us where we were going and then we discovered that we entered the wrong waypoint. We then corrected it and flew to the proper waypoint. We were on course to the wrong waypoint about 10 seconds and 230 KTS.
