Narrative:
E190 was climbing wswbound through the altitude of the A330-300. This was occurring in the northern part of the en route sector. Much activity in the south part of the sector; and on uret/flight data display took up much of my time. I never saw the conflict until I heard the radar controller issue turns and altitude assignments -- it was too late by then.

Title: ZBW RADAR ASSOC DESCRIBED OPERROR EVENT AT FL350 WHEN CTLR FAILED TO ISSUE TIMELY PREVENTATIVE INSTRUCTIONS.
Narrative: E190 WAS CLBING WSWBOUND THROUGH THE ALT OF THE A330-300. THIS WAS OCCURRING IN THE NORTHERN PART OF THE ENRTE SECTOR. MUCH ACTIVITY IN THE S PART OF THE SECTOR; AND ON URET/FLT DATA DISPLAY TOOK UP MUCH OF MY TIME. I NEVER SAW THE CONFLICT UNTIL I HEARD THE RADAR CTLR ISSUE TURNS AND ALT ASSIGNMENTS -- IT WAS TOO LATE BY THEN.
