Narrative:
Pre-departure in ZZZ at push time we were informed of fam's (federal air marshals) on our flight. No mention to us prior to this by anyone when we checked in with the csr before boarding. The flight attendants didn't know about the fam's until cruise and fortunately we didn't have any other pcfa's (passenger carrying fire arm) on board. Since we were getting our second rerte and ramp was trying to get us off the gate this is a very rushed time-frame to find out about fam's. According to our fom we are supposed to know about fam's/pcfa's before boarding starts so we can brief the other crew members before the regular passenger board the aircraft to prevent an unwanted situation on the aircraft and protect the identify of the fam's. Please fix this or next flight will be canceled for security reasons.

ACCORDING TO OUR FOM WE ARE SUPPOSED TO KNOW ABOUT FAM'S/PCFA'S BEFORE BOARDING STARTS SO WE CAN BRIEF THE OTHER CREW MEMBERS BEFORE THE REGULAR PAX BOARD THE ACFT TO PREVENT AN UNWANTED SITUATION ON THE ACFT AND PROTECT THE IDENT OF THE FAM'S.
