Narrative:

On initial climb out at approximately 2000 ft MSL; ATC issued a left turn. While in the turn; we received master warning triple chime followed by a red cass message anti-ice duct. I selected autoplt on and assumed all radio calls while the first officer ran the QRH. I instructed ATC of a problem and requested to leveloff at 8000 ft MSL. We contacted maintenance and were instructed to return to ZZZ. With the cass message now gone and the QRH complete; I didn't feel it necessary to declare an emergency. I notified ATC of the return to the field and received vectors for the ILS runway 23. We notified the appropriate ground personnel and completed all required checklists. I noted; due to the QRH; the 14TH stage bleed valves were closed. I then instructed the first officer to calculate the landing distance without thrust reversers. We contacted maintenance once again; and were given approval to reselect the 14TH stage bleed valves in order to have thrust reversers. The landing was uneventful. Nothing further to report. While on the ground at the north hard stand tat and sat showed 43 degrees C. Maintenance was called 2 separate times for an amber cass message. (Right windshield heat) the only thing that I see as potential reason for the occurrence; would have been the excessive heat on the aircraft. This aircraft was a spare and had sat on the ramp closed up all day. Once we returned to north hard stand one of the maintenance personnel told me this aircraft had a repeated history of the anti-ice duct cass message.

Title: A CRJ200 RETURN TO LAND AFTER AN 'ANTI-ICE DUCT' CASS MESSAGE APPEARED AFTER TKOF INDICATING A WING OVERHEAT. TAT/SAT INDICATED 43 DEGS BEFORE TKOF.

Narrative: ON INITIAL CLBOUT AT APPROX 2000 FT MSL; ATC ISSUED A L TURN. WHILE IN THE TURN; WE RECEIVED MASTER WARNING TRIPLE CHIME FOLLOWED BY A RED CASS MESSAGE ANTI-ICE DUCT. I SELECTED AUTOPLT ON AND ASSUMED ALL RADIO CALLS WHILE THE FO RAN THE QRH. I INSTRUCTED ATC OF A PROB AND REQUESTED TO LEVELOFF AT 8000 FT MSL. WE CONTACTED MAINT AND WERE INSTRUCTED TO RETURN TO ZZZ. WITH THE CASS MESSAGE NOW GONE AND THE QRH COMPLETE; I DIDN'T FEEL IT NECESSARY TO DECLARE AN EMER. I NOTIFIED ATC OF THE RETURN TO THE FIELD AND RECEIVED VECTORS FOR THE ILS RWY 23. WE NOTIFIED THE APPROPRIATE GND PERSONNEL AND COMPLETED ALL REQUIRED CHKLISTS. I NOTED; DUE TO THE QRH; THE 14TH STAGE BLEED VALVES WERE CLOSED. I THEN INSTRUCTED THE FO TO CALCULATE THE LNDG DISTANCE WITHOUT THRUST REVERSERS. WE CONTACTED MAINT ONCE AGAIN; AND WERE GIVEN APPROVAL TO RESELECT THE 14TH STAGE BLEED VALVES IN ORDER TO HAVE THRUST REVERSERS. THE LNDG WAS UNEVENTFUL. NOTHING FURTHER TO RPT. WHILE ON THE GND AT THE N HARD STAND TAT AND SAT SHOWED 43 DEGS C. MAINT WAS CALLED 2 SEPARATE TIMES FOR AN AMBER CASS MESSAGE. (R WINDSHIELD HEAT) THE ONLY THING THAT I SEE AS POTENTIAL REASON FOR THE OCCURRENCE; WOULD HAVE BEEN THE EXCESSIVE HEAT ON THE ACFT. THIS ACFT WAS A SPARE AND HAD SAT ON THE RAMP CLOSED UP ALL DAY. ONCE WE RETURNED TO N HARD STAND ONE OF THE MAINT PERSONNEL TOLD ME THIS ACFT HAD A REPEATED HISTORY OF THE ANTI-ICE DUCT CASS MESSAGE.
