Narrative:
Made radio calls for left downwind to runway 17. Extended gear on downwind. Full flaps on base leg. Ran checklist items and fgump on final. Landed with 30 degree right crosswind 15-20 KTS. Touchdown normal and skipped just a little. Heard click (mechanical noise) as I pulled power to idle and began to brake. Observed johnson bar lever move aft past my right arm. Johnson bar unlocked and gear collapsed. This mooney M20B did not have SBM20-88 which adds an extra safety pin to keep lever from disengaging socket for down and locked gear. If service bulletin was complied with; the mooney would have no damage. Propeller; belly; flaps; gear; and engine were damaged. I will never again fly in a M20 series mooney with manual gear unless service bulletin M20-88 is complied with; this should be a mandatory airworthiness directive.
