Narrative:

During pushback; the towbar came loose from the airplane. We moved about 10 ft back with the bar unconnected. I saw the signal from the guideman and set the brakes. We had the nose gear inspected by maintenance; received a new maintenance requirement document and continued. I suspect the towbar was not properly inserted by the push crew.

Title: A B737-300'S TOW BAR DISCONNECTED FROM THE NOSE WHEEL DURING PUSHBACK. THE CAPT STOPPED THAT ACFT AND HAD THE NOSE GEAR INSPECTED.

Narrative: DURING PUSHBACK; THE TOWBAR CAME LOOSE FROM THE AIRPLANE. WE MOVED ABOUT 10 FT BACK WITH THE BAR UNCONNECTED. I SAW THE SIGNAL FROM THE GUIDEMAN AND SET THE BRAKES. WE HAD THE NOSE GEAR INSPECTED BY MAINT; RECEIVED A NEW MAINT REQUIREMENT DOCUMENT AND CONTINUED. I SUSPECT THE TOWBAR WAS NOT PROPERLY INSERTED BY THE PUSH CREW.
