Narrative:
On final approach to ZZZ; flaps fail EICAS message illuminated when flaps were selected. A missed approach and a climb away from the traffic pattern was initiated for vectors to assess the problem and run the QRH. Control was with ZZZ approach. QRH procedure was accomplished and we were handed off to tower but were too high and too fast to complete a no flap landing from that point. A go around was accomplished to the VFR traffic pattern and an uneventful no flap landing was accomplished.
