Narrative:

Due to an aircraft not being able to exit the runway; at go around was initiated. On climb out; PF made a turn to 090 degrees and at about 800-900 ft; tower cleared us to land on runway xx. I called tower back and verified that they wanted us to land on runway xx; and they confirmed it. After this; I looked at the airspeed and confign and began to forcefully shout out comments/commands about the airplane being slow and that we needed to accelerate. At some point the captain pulled the thrust levers back and began to level at 900-1000 ft. I noticed the trend vector decreasing rapidly and a speed of 150 KTS. I continued to shout; 'watch your speed. You're slow; accelerate.' I continued to shout 'fly the airplane; fly this airplane!' I believe I was calling out minimum speeds at some point as well. I was about to take the controls but didn't because he started to respond to the aircraft. During this time the stick shaker activated. The aircraft was accelerated a bit but there were many pitch; roll; and power adjustments. As he banked the aircraft to the right to make a teardrop back to the final for runway xx; and I told tower we were not able to land on runway xx; this is when the PF allowed the aircraft to get slow again and; in the turn; the shaker activated again for about 1 second. I continued to tell the captain to fly the airplane. I also recommended that he turn on the autoplt to reduce workload. After this; the flight was smooth. As I was about to call the flight attendants; they called me and I told them that I was about to make a PA to the passenger. The aircraft was configured properly for landing and we made a safe; uneventful landing in ZZZ on runway xx. After parking; I asked the captain what happened and he said he was worried about busting ZZZ1's airspace. I made it clear that the aircraft should never get that slow on a go around and that the procedure should be fully completed prior to commencing another approach. I walked to the cabin to talk to the flight attendants and make sure they were ok. They were shaken up and I briefly explained the situation but asked the forward flight attendant to go get the captain so we could discuss it. He told her it was a standard go around and stayed in the cockpit. To my knowledge no crew debrief took place other than what I had said to the flight attendants. Supplemental information from acn 798193: we were approaching runway xx at ZZZ when we had to do a go around due to an aircraft on the runway. I (the captain) was flying. I called for set thrust flaps 8 degrees and pushed the thrust levers forward to the togo detent. I now believe that I did not push the togo button on the thrust levers. We were given a turn to 090 degrees and cleared to 1500 ft. We leveled at 1500 ft and were cleared to land on runway xx; however; we were almost abeam the end of the runway only about 1 mi to the south. Before I realized how close we were; I pulled the power back to descend. I believe this is when the aircraft slowed up and the shaker went off. We informed the tower that we could not land from this position. We were told to turn right and land out of the r-hand turn. We turned as instructed as I believed this was to keep us out of ZZZ2 airspace. The turn put us over the top of ZZZ1 and we then received vectors to a teardrop pattern to runway xx. In retrospect; I believe that what they meant was to continue on the 090 degree heading for a teardrop pattern to runway xx. I believe that I failed to push to togo button and this led to a delay in turning the autoplt on. This would have reduced the workload and allowed me to have more time for a better perspective. The first officer tensed up and communication suffered. This was an anomaly. I have done many gars over the yrs and they all went very well. I am embarrassed and perplexed that this went too far from the normal. Usually; when I see a possible go around situation developing; I review the procedure briefly with the PNF to make sure that we are on the same page. I really thought the air carrier would make it off the runway this time so I did not. Perhaps if I had; it would have gone as smooth as usual. Supplemental information from acn 799432: we were in our bracing position ready to land in ZZZ when we pulled upand landing gear went back up; so I knew this was going to be a go around. This happened to me a few times; especially in the area; so I knew what to expect. This incident was different when we pulled back up it seemed we went straight up more than usual; then we pulled down then banked to the right then left as though we were dodging something. It felt as though we were going to roll over. I looked at flight attendant who was the lead and made a hand signal as it felt like we were going to crash. Then the passenger really started panicking. I could see a lot of passenger gripping their seats in front of them a lot looking out the window. Someone pressed flight attendant call button and we still hadn't settled down; so I still sat in my jumpseat. Flight attendant called me to make sure I heard it. I said I wasn't getting up till I felt safe. So I went to the passenger; she could hardly catch her breath. She was very frightened and asked me to situation by her. She said she flew all the time into ZZZ for work and she had never experienced anything like this. She was shaking and thought something was very wrong which I did also but didn't let her know. I held her hand and talked to her and tried to calm her down a bit. Then flight attendant told me I should go back to my jumpseat; so I asked the 2 passenger in front of her to keep an eye on her if they could. I went back to my jumpseat. Still it wasn't right -- it didn't feel right at all. We went very slow for a while; then would speed up -- still flying like we were dodging something. At that point I was very frightened. I had never felt anything like this in the 8 yrs I have been flying. I just had the worst feeling something was going to happen. We never heard anything from the flight deck so we didn't know what to think. Flight attendant did make an announcement that we had to go around to let the passenger at least know that. Well; finally we landed. I was the aft flight attendant. Everyone seemed as though they couldn't wait to get out of the plane. After everyone was off; I saw first officer come out of the cockpit with this horrible look on his face and looked very pale. He was going to the back lavatory. He said something like he couldn't believe what just happened. Captain never came out of the cockpit; never talked to us. Flight attendant and I discussed whether if we should fly the next 2 legs. She went to the cockpit and asked captain what happened. He came out and did not make any sense at all. So we didn't know what to think -- we both noticed he was shaking; he had the paperwork in his hand; and he was shaking. Flight attendant went back in the cockpit because captain went back and sat down. She asked if he was ok to fly and he said yes but was still shaking. We decided to call our supervisor; so flight attendant did that. All captain seemed to be concerned about was doing the next flight. We didn't have a debriefing -- nothing. He said we had a quick turn and the people were coming. Flight attendant was in the back lavatory talking to a supervisor and the people started to board. We had no time to think or get our thoughts together. I just knew I should not have done the next 2 flts; but we were full so we were thinking about the passenger and we both hated to cancel. So we did the flts. I'm just very thankful we had first officer knowing what he was doing. I don't know what would have happened if he was not up there (well; yes I do). I know I myself will never fly with this captain again. I knew every leg that he was flying -- it was just different. This was a very terrifying experience. Hopefully; I will never have to go through it again.

Title: CRJ700 FLT CREW AND CABIN CREW REPORT ON GAR THAT GOES VERY BADLY.

Narrative: DUE TO AN ACFT NOT BEING ABLE TO EXIT THE RWY; AT GAR WAS INITIATED. ON CLBOUT; PF MADE A TURN TO 090 DEGS AND AT ABOUT 800-900 FT; TWR CLRED US TO LAND ON RWY XX. I CALLED TWR BACK AND VERIFIED THAT THEY WANTED US TO LAND ON RWY XX; AND THEY CONFIRMED IT. AFTER THIS; I LOOKED AT THE AIRSPD AND CONFIGN AND BEGAN TO FORCEFULLY SHOUT OUT COMMENTS/COMMANDS ABOUT THE AIRPLANE BEING SLOW AND THAT WE NEEDED TO ACCELERATE. AT SOME POINT THE CAPT PULLED THE THRUST LEVERS BACK AND BEGAN TO LEVEL AT 900-1000 FT. I NOTICED THE TREND VECTOR DECREASING RAPIDLY AND A SPD OF 150 KTS. I CONTINUED TO SHOUT; 'WATCH YOUR SPD. YOU'RE SLOW; ACCELERATE.' I CONTINUED TO SHOUT 'FLY THE AIRPLANE; FLY THIS AIRPLANE!' I BELIEVE I WAS CALLING OUT MINIMUM SPDS AT SOME POINT AS WELL. I WAS ABOUT TO TAKE THE CTLS BUT DIDN'T BECAUSE HE STARTED TO RESPOND TO THE ACFT. DURING THIS TIME THE STICK SHAKER ACTIVATED. THE ACFT WAS ACCELERATED A BIT BUT THERE WERE MANY PITCH; ROLL; AND PWR ADJUSTMENTS. AS HE BANKED THE ACFT TO THE R TO MAKE A TEARDROP BACK TO THE FINAL FOR RWY XX; AND I TOLD TWR WE WERE NOT ABLE TO LAND ON RWY XX; THIS IS WHEN THE PF ALLOWED THE ACFT TO GET SLOW AGAIN AND; IN THE TURN; THE SHAKER ACTIVATED AGAIN FOR ABOUT 1 SECOND. I CONTINUED TO TELL THE CAPT TO FLY THE AIRPLANE. I ALSO RECOMMENDED THAT HE TURN ON THE AUTOPLT TO REDUCE WORKLOAD. AFTER THIS; THE FLT WAS SMOOTH. AS I WAS ABOUT TO CALL THE FLT ATTENDANTS; THEY CALLED ME AND I TOLD THEM THAT I WAS ABOUT TO MAKE A PA TO THE PAX. THE ACFT WAS CONFIGURED PROPERLY FOR LNDG AND WE MADE A SAFE; UNEVENTFUL LNDG IN ZZZ ON RWY XX. AFTER PARKING; I ASKED THE CAPT WHAT HAPPENED AND HE SAID HE WAS WORRIED ABOUT BUSTING ZZZ1'S AIRSPACE. I MADE IT CLR THAT THE ACFT SHOULD NEVER GET THAT SLOW ON A GAR AND THAT THE PROC SHOULD BE FULLY COMPLETED PRIOR TO COMMENCING ANOTHER APCH. I WALKED TO THE CABIN TO TALK TO THE FLT ATTENDANTS AND MAKE SURE THEY WERE OK. THEY WERE SHAKEN UP AND I BRIEFLY EXPLAINED THE SITUATION BUT ASKED THE FORWARD FLT ATTENDANT TO GO GET THE CAPT SO WE COULD DISCUSS IT. HE TOLD HER IT WAS A STANDARD GAR AND STAYED IN THE COCKPIT. TO MY KNOWLEDGE NO CREW DEBRIEF TOOK PLACE OTHER THAN WHAT I HAD SAID TO THE FLT ATTENDANTS. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 798193: WE WERE APCHING RWY XX AT ZZZ WHEN WE HAD TO DO A GAR DUE TO AN ACFT ON THE RWY. I (THE CAPT) WAS FLYING. I CALLED FOR SET THRUST FLAPS 8 DEGS AND PUSHED THE THRUST LEVERS FORWARD TO THE TOGO DETENT. I NOW BELIEVE THAT I DID NOT PUSH THE TOGO BUTTON ON THE THRUST LEVERS. WE WERE GIVEN A TURN TO 090 DEGS AND CLRED TO 1500 FT. WE LEVELED AT 1500 FT AND WERE CLRED TO LAND ON RWY XX; HOWEVER; WE WERE ALMOST ABEAM THE END OF THE RWY ONLY ABOUT 1 MI TO THE S. BEFORE I REALIZED HOW CLOSE WE WERE; I PULLED THE PWR BACK TO DSND. I BELIEVE THIS IS WHEN THE ACFT SLOWED UP AND THE SHAKER WENT OFF. WE INFORMED THE TWR THAT WE COULD NOT LAND FROM THIS POS. WE WERE TOLD TO TURN R AND LAND OUT OF THE R-HAND TURN. WE TURNED AS INSTRUCTED AS I BELIEVED THIS WAS TO KEEP US OUT OF ZZZ2 AIRSPACE. THE TURN PUT US OVER THE TOP OF ZZZ1 AND WE THEN RECEIVED VECTORS TO A TEARDROP PATTERN TO RWY XX. IN RETROSPECT; I BELIEVE THAT WHAT THEY MEANT WAS TO CONTINUE ON THE 090 DEG HDG FOR A TEARDROP PATTERN TO RWY XX. I BELIEVE THAT I FAILED TO PUSH TO TOGO BUTTON AND THIS LED TO A DELAY IN TURNING THE AUTOPLT ON. THIS WOULD HAVE REDUCED THE WORKLOAD AND ALLOWED ME TO HAVE MORE TIME FOR A BETTER PERSPECTIVE. THE FO TENSED UP AND COM SUFFERED. THIS WAS AN ANOMALY. I HAVE DONE MANY GARS OVER THE YRS AND THEY ALL WENT VERY WELL. I AM EMBARRASSED AND PERPLEXED THAT THIS WENT TOO FAR FROM THE NORMAL. USUALLY; WHEN I SEE A POSSIBLE GAR SITUATION DEVELOPING; I REVIEW THE PROC BRIEFLY WITH THE PNF TO MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE ON THE SAME PAGE. I REALLY THOUGHT THE ACR WOULD MAKE IT OFF THE RWY THIS TIME SO I DID NOT. PERHAPS IF I HAD; IT WOULD HAVE GONE AS SMOOTH AS USUAL. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 799432: WE WERE IN OUR BRACING POS READY TO LAND IN ZZZ WHEN WE PULLED UPAND LNDG GEAR WENT BACK UP; SO I KNEW THIS WAS GOING TO BE A GAR. THIS HAPPENED TO ME A FEW TIMES; ESPECIALLY IN THE AREA; SO I KNEW WHAT TO EXPECT. THIS INCIDENT WAS DIFFERENT WHEN WE PULLED BACK UP IT SEEMED WE WENT STRAIGHT UP MORE THAN USUAL; THEN WE PULLED DOWN THEN BANKED TO THE R THEN L AS THOUGH WE WERE DODGING SOMETHING. IT FELT AS THOUGH WE WERE GOING TO ROLL OVER. I LOOKED AT FLT ATTENDANT WHO WAS THE LEAD AND MADE A HAND SIGNAL AS IT FELT LIKE WE WERE GOING TO CRASH. THEN THE PAX REALLY STARTED PANICKING. I COULD SEE A LOT OF PAX GRIPPING THEIR SEATS IN FRONT OF THEM A LOT LOOKING OUT THE WINDOW. SOMEONE PRESSED FLT ATTENDANT CALL BUTTON AND WE STILL HADN'T SETTLED DOWN; SO I STILL SAT IN MY JUMPSEAT. FLT ATTENDANT CALLED ME TO MAKE SURE I HEARD IT. I SAID I WASN'T GETTING UP TILL I FELT SAFE. SO I WENT TO THE PAX; SHE COULD HARDLY CATCH HER BREATH. SHE WAS VERY FRIGHTENED AND ASKED ME TO SIT BY HER. THEN FLT ATTENDANT TOLD ME I SHOULD GO BACK TO MY JUMPSEAT; SO I ASKED THE 2 PAX IN FRONT OF HER TO KEEP AN EYE ON HER IF THEY COULD. I WENT BACK TO MY JUMPSEAT. STILL IT WASN'T RIGHT -- IT DIDN'T FEEL RIGHT AT ALL. WE WENT VERY SLOW FOR A WHILE; THEN WOULD SPD UP -- STILL FLYING LIKE WE WERE DODGING SOMETHING. AT THAT POINT I WAS VERY FRIGHTENED. I HAD NEVER FELT ANYTHING LIKE THIS IN THE 8 YRS I HAVE BEEN FLYING. I JUST HAD THE WORST FEELING SOMETHING WAS GOING TO HAPPEN. WE NEVER HEARD ANYTHING FROM THE FLT DECK SO WE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO THINK. FLT ATTENDANT DID MAKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT THAT WE HAD TO GO AROUND TO LET THE PAX AT LEAST KNOW THAT. WELL; FINALLY WE LANDED. I WAS THE AFT FLT ATTENDANT. EVERYONE SEEMED AS THOUGH THEY COULDN'T WAIT TO GET OUT OF THE PLANE. AFTER EVERYONE WAS OFF; I SAW FO COME OUT OF THE COCKPIT WITH THIS HORRIBLE LOOK ON HIS FACE AND LOOKED VERY PALE. HE WAS GOING TO THE BACK LAVATORY. HE SAID SOMETHING LIKE HE COULDN'T BELIEVE WHAT JUST HAPPENED. CAPT NEVER CAME OUT OF THE COCKPIT; NEVER TALKED TO US. FLT ATTENDANT AND I DISCUSSED WHETHER IF WE SHOULD FLY THE NEXT 2 LEGS. SHE WENT TO THE COCKPIT AND ASKED CAPT WHAT HAPPENED. HE CAME OUT AND DID NOT MAKE ANY SENSE AT ALL. SO WE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO THINK -- WE BOTH NOTICED HE WAS SHAKING; HE HAD THE PAPERWORK IN HIS HAND; AND HE WAS SHAKING. FLT ATTENDANT WENT BACK IN THE COCKPIT BECAUSE CAPT WENT BACK AND SAT DOWN. SHE ASKED IF HE WAS OK TO FLY AND HE SAID YES BUT WAS STILL SHAKING. WE DECIDED TO CALL OUR SUPVR; SO FLT ATTENDANT DID THAT. ALL CAPT SEEMED TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT WAS DOING THE NEXT FLT. WE DIDN'T HAVE A DEBRIEFING -- NOTHING. HE SAID WE HAD A QUICK TURN AND THE PEOPLE WERE COMING. FLT ATTENDANT WAS IN THE BACK LAVATORY TALKING TO A SUPVR AND THE PEOPLE STARTED TO BOARD. WE HAD NO TIME TO THINK OR GET OUR THOUGHTS TOGETHER. I JUST KNEW I SHOULD NOT HAVE DONE THE NEXT 2 FLTS; BUT WE WERE FULL SO WE WERE THINKING ABOUT THE PAX AND WE BOTH HATED TO CANCEL. SO WE DID THE FLTS. I'M JUST VERY THANKFUL WE HAD FO KNOWING WHAT HE WAS DOING. I DON'T KNOW WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF HE WAS NOT UP THERE (WELL; YES I DO). I KNOW I MYSELF WILL NEVER FLY WITH THIS CAPT AGAIN. I KNEW EVERY LEG THAT HE WAS FLYING -- IT WAS JUST DIFFERENT. THIS WAS A VERY TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE. HOPEFULLY; I WILL NEVER HAVE TO GO THROUGH IT AGAIN.
