Narrative:
Due to understaffing; was forced to work 2 hours over my 8 hour shift. I was forced to work an operational position for the last 3 1/2 hours of my 10-hour shift. Due to normal sleep patterns and extra time on position; I feel my awareness suffered and focus at times was not fully maintained. Management was aware of staffing issues 30 days before incident and failed to take corrective actions to fully staff shift.
