Narrative:
On the evening of aug/xa/08 we were assigned the task of adjusting the L1 door stops on aircraft as indicated on our job assignment sheet. Another mechanic was sent to assist with the door rig. He stated that he was sent to do a door rig. With this mindset; we (along with the other mechanic) interpreted the maintenance write-up entries as pertaining to the final torques on the set screws. No parts were ever ordered for this aircraft. We were never told that the set screws or nuts were defective in our turnover; nor were we ever told that these parts failed a 'running torque.' so; with the assistance of maintenance; we rigged the door per the maintenance manual. The next night we found out that the maintenance write-up entries for the set screws referred to the 'running torque.' the aircraft never flew in this condition and new parts were ordered for it. The aircraft is awaiting the parts and a door inspection. Suggested resolution: better turnover procedure -- more technical details and maintenance manual references need to be included.

Narrative: ON THE EVENING OF AUG/XA/08 WE WERE ASSIGNED THE TASK OF ADJUSTING THE L1 DOOR STOPS ON ACFT AS INDICATED ON OUR JOB ASSIGNMENT SHEET. ANOTHER MECH WAS SENT TO ASSIST WITH THE DOOR RIG. NO PARTS WERE EVER ORDERED FOR THIS ACFT. WE WERE NEVER TOLD THAT THE SET SCREWS OR NUTS WERE DEFECTIVE IN OUR TURNOVER; NOR WERE WE EVER TOLD THAT THESE PARTS FAILED A 'RUNNING TORQUE.' SO; WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF MAINT; WE RIGGED THE DOOR PER THE MAINT MANUAL. THE NEXT NIGHT WE FOUND OUT THAT THE MAINT WRITE-UP ENTRIES FOR THE SET SCREWS REFERRED TO THE 'RUNNING TORQUE.' SUGGESTED RESOLUTION: BETTER TURNOVER PROC -- MORE TECHNICAL DETAILS AND MAINT MANUAL REFS NEED TO BE INCLUDED.
