Narrative:
The event happened just before departure; passenger boarded. Flight crew called maintenance for a popped circuit breaker for the l-hand mode select. I then proceeded to aircraft; attempted circuit breaker reset -- no help. I then contacted maintenance control for assistance and to inform them of the situation. Maintenance control found part number which I used to see if the part was available here -- it wasn't. Maintenance control then contacted aircraft on ground desk to start a part out of ZZZ1 stores. The manager on duty was then called to take aircraft OTS awaiting parts. Also; while talking to the maintenance operations; we asked him to see if the aircraft on ground desk could check locally for parts here at ZZZ. It was probably about 15 mins that passed and we received a call from maintenance control that airline had an autoplt mode select panel and our stores person proceeded to get the part. After we received the panel; I installed and performed an mcdp land 40 test. I realized this was an autoland qualification item; so I pulled my training records to make sure my autoland qualifications were current. They were; and I proceeded to sign the logbook. Suggested resolution: I plan on reviewing my autoland qualifications training course and borrowed part training course. Contributing factors: improper documentation. Did not follow procedure for borrowed part. I did check to see my autoland qualifications were current.

Title: MECHANIC IS INFORMED THAT AN IMPROPER DOCUMENTATION ISSUE AROSE BECAUSE HE DID NOT FOLLOW PROCEDURES WHEN HE INSTALLED AN AUTOPILOT LH MODE SELECT PANEL IN THEIR B757-200 BORROWED FROM ANOTHER CARRIER.
Narrative: THE EVENT HAPPENED JUST BEFORE DEP; PAX BOARDED. FLT CREW CALLED MAINT FOR A POPPED CIRCUIT BREAKER FOR THE L-HAND MODE SELECT. I THEN PROCEEDED TO ACFT; ATTEMPTED CIRCUIT BREAKER RESET -- NO HELP. I THEN CONTACTED MAINT CTL FOR ASSISTANCE AND TO INFORM THEM OF THE SITUATION. MAINT CTL FOUND PART NUMBER WHICH I USED TO SEE IF THE PART WAS AVAILABLE HERE -- IT WASN'T. MAINT CTL THEN CONTACTED ACFT ON GND DESK TO START A PART OUT OF ZZZ1 STORES. THE MGR ON DUTY WAS THEN CALLED TO TAKE ACFT OTS AWAITING PARTS. ALSO; WHILE TALKING TO THE MAINT OPS; WE ASKED HIM TO SEE IF THE ACFT ON GND DESK COULD CHK LOCALLY FOR PARTS HERE AT ZZZ. IT WAS PROBABLY ABOUT 15 MINS THAT PASSED AND WE RECEIVED A CALL FROM MAINT CTL THAT AIRLINE HAD AN AUTOPLT MODE SELECT PANEL AND OUR STORES PERSON PROCEEDED TO GET THE PART. DID NOT FOLLOW PROC FOR BORROWED PART. I DID CHK TO SEE MY AUTOLAND QUALIFICATIONS WERE CURRENT.
