Narrative:

Aircraft was in the stage of a lease return. It is a norm to bring the aircraft in the hangar and to remove the painted areas that say on the side of the aircraft. I noticed the mechanic removing the painted area; did have personal breathing equipment on himself. During the time I was watching and walking back to another area I noticed a lot of dust in the air. I was concerned for other people in the area that also have to ingest this dust particles in their lungs and there was no others with personal breathing equipment on at the time of this paint removal. I do think this is a hazard that should be addressed by safety. There needs to be a place this can be done with minimal impact to employees in the work area. We don't have a paint area anywhere on site that could limit exposure to the dust. I'm really not sure what could be done to help with this problem but again this is a norm!
