Narrative:

While en route sbound on vxx in IMC at 9000 ft MSL; I had a radio problem and was unable to transmit to ATC. While working to rectify the problem; I accidentally and unknowingly disconnected the autoplt. While concentrating on isolating the problem and then switching to another radio on the proper frequency; the aircraft entered an unusual attitude. In the process of recovering from the unusual attitude; significant altitude excursions and possible deviation from course were experienced. After the aircraft was brought under control on the assigned altitude and course; the autoplt was turned back on with no further altitude or course deviations. Using a different radio; no further communication problems were experienced.

Title: A M20 PLT WHILE ENROUTE EXPERIENCES A RADIO FAILURE AND IN THE PROCESS OF TROUBLE SHOOTING UNKNOWINGLY DISCONNECTED THE AUTOPILOT RESULTING IN AN UNUSUAL ATTITUDE AS WELL AS VARIOUS ALTITUDE DEVIATIONS.

Narrative: WHILE ENRTE SBOUND ON VXX IN IMC AT 9000 FT MSL; I HAD A RADIO PROB AND WAS UNABLE TO XMIT TO ATC. WHILE WORKING TO RECTIFY THE PROB; I ACCIDENTALLY AND UNKNOWINGLY DISCONNECTED THE AUTOPLT. WHILE CONCENTRATING ON ISOLATING THE PROB AND THEN SWITCHING TO ANOTHER RADIO ON THE PROPER FREQ; THE ACFT ENTERED AN UNUSUAL ATTITUDE. IN THE PROCESS OF RECOVERING FROM THE UNUSUAL ATTITUDE; SIGNIFICANT ALT EXCURSIONS AND POSSIBLE DEV FROM COURSE WERE EXPERIENCED. AFTER THE ACFT WAS BROUGHT UNDER CTL ON THE ASSIGNED ALT AND COURSE; THE AUTOPLT WAS TURNED BACK ON WITH NO FURTHER ALT OR COURSE DEVS. USING A DIFFERENT RADIO; NO FURTHER COM PROBS WERE EXPERIENCED.
