Narrative:

I was assigned aircraft X; which required a #3 service and some deferred items. The #3 service overnight check requires the pressure check of the door assist bottles. After checking the other 3 doors I proceeded to door 2R to check the bottle pressure. I could not see the bottle pressure clearly through the sight gauge so I proceeded to open the door to get a better view of the gauge without noticing that the flight attendants had failed to disarm the door causing the emergency escape slide to inflate on top of a baggage cart.

Narrative: I WAS ASSIGNED ACFT X; WHICH REQUIRED A #3 SVC AND SOME DEFERRED ITEMS. THE #3 SVC OVERNIGHT CHK REQUIRES THE PRESSURE CHK OF THE DOOR ASSIST BOTTLES. AFTER CHKING THE OTHER 3 DOORS I PROCEEDED TO DOOR 2R TO CHK THE BOTTLE PRESSURE. I COULD NOT SEE THE BOTTLE PRESSURE CLRLY THROUGH THE SIGHT GAUGE SO I PROCEEDED TO OPEN THE DOOR TO GET A BETTER VIEW OF THE GAUGE WITHOUT NOTICING THAT THE FLT ATTENDANTS HAD FAILED TO DISARM THE DOOR CAUSING THE EMER ESCAPE SLIDE TO INFLATE ON TOP OF A BAGGAGE CART.
