Narrative:
We were cruising at FL400 in clear air with no turbulence. We were in contact with center. At approximately XA00Z we heard a muffled boom and the aircraft yawed slightly to the left. At that time we received an 'EICAS' message right engine fail. The copilot took control of the aircraft and I notified ATC that we had lost an engine and requested a cruise descent. We immediately began to run the engine fail checklist; secured the engine; and elected to attempt a restart. When the restart was unsuccessful; we notified ATC that we would like to proceed to ZZZ; which was the nearest suitable airport in time and distance. I notified dispatch of our problem and intentions. The copilot continued to fly and prepare for a landing while I briefed the purser and the passenger. We were handed off to approach who brought us around for a visual to runway xxl. The copilot and I briefed the visual to runway xxl; a single engine approach and landing; and a possible single engine go around. The landing was totally normal and we taxied to the gate unassisted.

Title: B777-200 SUFFERS FAILURE OF RIGHT ENGINE. LAND AT NEAREST SUITABLE ARPT.
Narrative: WE WERE CRUISING AT FL400 IN CLR AIR WITH NO TURB. WE WERE IN CONTACT WITH CTR. AT APPROX XA00Z WE HEARD A MUFFLED BOOM AND THE ACFT YAWED SLIGHTLY TO THE L. AT THAT TIME WE RECEIVED AN 'EICAS' MESSAGE R ENG FAIL. THE COPLT TOOK CTL OF THE ACFT AND I NOTIFIED ATC THAT WE HAD LOST AN ENG AND REQUESTED A CRUISE DSCNT. WE IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO RUN THE ENG FAIL CHKLIST; SECURED THE ENG; AND ELECTED TO ATTEMPT A RESTART. WHEN THE RESTART WAS UNSUCCESSFUL; WE NOTIFIED ATC THAT WE WOULD LIKE TO PROCEED TO ZZZ; WHICH WAS THE NEAREST SUITABLE ARPT IN TIME AND DISTANCE. I NOTIFIED DISPATCH OF OUR PROB AND INTENTIONS. THE COPLT CONTINUED TO FLY AND PREPARE FOR A LNDG WHILE I BRIEFED THE PURSER AND THE PAX. WE WERE HANDED OFF TO APCH WHO BROUGHT US AROUND FOR A VISUAL TO RWY XXL. THE COPLT AND I BRIEFED THE VISUAL TO RWY XXL; A SINGLE ENG APCH AND LNDG; AND A POSSIBLE SINGLE ENG GAR. THE LNDG WAS TOTALLY NORMAL AND WE TAXIED TO THE GATE UNASSISTED.
