Narrative:
Slides were being removed at line stations and being improperly pinned or safetied. From there; they were being shipped via air to the maintenance base at ZZZ. Notices have been sent to the line stations with pictures of the correct way to pin the slide bottle. There has also been a second signoff on the work card. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated his carrier was quite concerned about the improper slide pin installations prior to shipping by air. Some slides had pins installed; but not in the proper position. Special maintenance bulletins with pictures were published addressing correct pin locations. Also; engineering added an additional signoff to their maintenance work cards to include a lead signature to verify correct pin installation prior to removal and shipping of slide.
