Air Traffic Incident | Operational Error |
Narrative:
Training a certified professional controller on a sector. We were 8 mins into our first training session when the error occurred. The trainee idented the situation too late. The trainee turned 1 aircraft 30 degrees. However; by the time the turn took effect the error had already happened. The situation that occurred involved a CRJ1 out of minneapolis; sbound over fort dodge; ia; climbing to FL320 and a CRJ2 out of sioux falls; sd; over fort dodge; ia; and points east climbing to FL300. Initially; the situation did not appear to be a problem. However; speeds on both aircraft changed quickly; thus creating the situation that led to this operational error.

INITIALLY; THE SITUATION DID NOT APPEAR TO BE A PROB. HOWEVER; SPDS ON BOTH ACFT CHANGED QUICKLY; THUS CREATING THE SITUATION THAT LED TO THIS OPERROR.
