Narrative:
On sep/xa/08 from ZZZ to ZZZ1 while climbing out of about FL320; we heard a popping sound and noticed that the pilot's window was inoperative. Not knowing the status of the window; we donned our oxygen masks; declared an emergency; and made a descent into ZZZ2. After landing safely; we noticed that it was the outer window that was damaged. While I was taking care of the passenger's the captain looked up in the afm and said that it was ok to fly the aircraft to a place to get the window fixed without a special ferry permit. So the captain and I flew the aircraft with just the required crew to the service center in ZZZ3 to get the aircraft's window repaired. I did not verify in the afm what the captain read; which I should have done and will definitely do next time.
