Narrative:
During taxi to the runway; all checklists completed. Tower gave takeoff clearance to a preceding aircraft with a tailwind. We then changed to maximum power in the tri. Clearance was given to take off. Advanced throttles for maximum power; at about 75 KTS we got a caution light with a corresponding EICAS message of both eec and engine limiter failure on the right engine. Decision by me was to abort the takeoff at approximately 80 KTS. Aircraft came to a stop on runway and we advised tower we needed to go back to the gate for maintenance. Everything proceeded normally with no problems. All the crew handled the situation with the utmost of professionalism.
