Narrative:

On approach to landing; the captain (PF) and myself (PNF) experienced an asymmetric flap problem. We coordination with ATC; ran the appropriate emergency checklists and declared an emergency. We completed normal checklists; and landed on runway at nearby airport normally. After landing; we communicated with crash fire rescue equipment and confirmed the aircraft was in a safe condition. We then taxied to parking and normally deplaned.

Title: A B737-800 WITH AN ASYMMETRIC FLAP WARNING ON APCH; DIVERTED TO A NEARBY ARPT WITH A LONGER RWY. AN EMER WAS DECLARED.

Narrative: ON APCH TO LNDG; THE CAPT (PF) AND MYSELF (PNF) EXPERIENCED AN ASYMMETRIC FLAP PROB. WE COORD WITH ATC; RAN THE APPROPRIATE EMER CHKLISTS AND DECLARED AN EMER. WE COMPLETED NORMAL CHKLISTS; AND LANDED ON RWY AT NEARBY ARPT NORMALLY. AFTER LNDG; WE COMMUNICATED WITH CFR AND CONFIRMED THE ACFT WAS IN A SAFE CONDITION. WE THEN TAXIED TO PARKING AND NORMALLY DEPLANED.
