Narrative:
Aircraft was transferred to local control at ewr tower with less than standard sep. I took action to ensure sep of aircraft and transferred them back to ny TRACON. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following: reporter says that all 3 aircraft were air carrier. When they came on his tower frequency medium large transport X was permitted to land. Medium large transport Y was about 1 mi behind X and 300' higher. Air carrier Y was given climbing right turn to a heading and change back to N90 controller. This aircraft was late in coming to tower frequency. The third air carrier was large transport and it was about 1 mi behind air carrier Y and approximately 300' higher. This air carrier Z was given climbing left turn for sep and change back to N90. WX at time was ceiling 400 and visibility 1 mi. N90 bought 2 operation errors.

Title: LESS THAN STANDARD SEPARATION BETWEEN 3 ACR ACFT IN TRAIL ON FINAL APCH. OPERATIONAL ERROR.
Narrative: ACFT WAS TRANSFERRED TO LCL CTL AT EWR TWR WITH LESS THAN STANDARD SEP. I TOOK ACTION TO ENSURE SEP OF ACFT AND TRANSFERRED THEM BACK TO NY TRACON. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING: REPORTER SAYS THAT ALL 3 ACFT WERE ACR. WHEN THEY CAME ON HIS TWR FREQ MLG X WAS PERMITTED TO LAND. MLG Y WAS ABOUT 1 MI BEHIND X AND 300' HIGHER. ACR Y WAS GIVEN CLBING RIGHT TURN TO A HDG AND CHANGE BACK TO N90 CTLR. THIS ACFT WAS LATE IN COMING TO TWR FREQ. THE THIRD ACR WAS LGT AND IT WAS ABOUT 1 MI BEHIND ACR Y AND APPROX 300' HIGHER. THIS ACR Z WAS GIVEN CLBING LEFT TURN FOR SEP AND CHANGE BACK TO N90. WX AT TIME WAS CEILING 400 AND VIS 1 MI. N90 BOUGHT 2 OP ERRORS.
