Narrative:

We were cleared for the visual approach. We were at the marker gear down flaps 20 degrees. I asked for flaps 25 degrees and a few seconds later the 'te flaps disagree' EICAS and master caution illuminated. The indication needle did not move from flaps 20 degree indication. The PNF moved the handle back to flaps 20 degrees then tried the flaps 25 degree detent again. We still had the EICAS and commenced a go around at about 1000 ft. We climbed to 3000 ft per ATC and selected 185 KTS so not to overspd the flaps 20 degree setting. The PNF ran the appropriate checklist and the cautions subsequently went away. We landed with autobrakes 4 and flaps 20 degrees using the appropriate reference speeds. We had the fire trucks in place as a precaution. We touched down on the numbers and stopped within the first half of the available runway.
